MISA Annual Meeting – December 13, 2011

The MISA Annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the HUNAN MANOR CHINESE RESTAURANT.

We will be holding the elections for the 2012 Board. You will soon be receiving an Election Ballot. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting.

SPEAKER: Mr. John S. Reginaldi, Regional Liaison Officer, National Capital Region, Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA)

TOPIC: Security Lighting and recent efforts to limit lighting thereby decreasing security and safety to the public and other safety issues

Mr. Reginaldi is back by popular demand. He is a wealth of knowledge. It will be worth your time to hear all he has to say.

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m. for the next MISA meeting. Expect good food, follow-up information from MSP Licensing Division and a great speaker, Kim Burns from MBRG, and more.
Our last meeting was excellent and we’re on a roll. Some of you may remember Kim Burns as a former lobbyist for MISA. She is currently President of Maryland Business for Responsive Government, a statewide, nonpartisan, political research and education organization that works to improve Maryland’s business climate. Bring a notepad as Kim always has something valuable to share.
It is time for nominations for the 2012 Board. Is it your time to get involved in MISA? How can MISA help your business? Bring your ideas, suggestions and questions to the table.

The next MISA meeting will occur on Tuesday, 09-13-2011 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Hunan Manor of Columbia Chinese Restaurant located at 7091 Deepage Drive, Columbia, MD 21045.
The speaker will be Sgt. Jeff Pettitt the current supervisor of the Security Guard Agency and Private Detective Agency Unit of the Maryland State Police Licensing Division. Lt. Jerry Beason, the new Commander of the Licensing Division will also be speaking. Capt. Tom Williams (ret), Director, Planning and Research for the Department of the State Police is expected to attend.

Congrats to New President of MBRG

Former MISA lobbyist Kimberly M. Burns is the new President of Maryland Business for Responsive Government. Maryland Business for Responsive Government is a state business advocacy group. MBRG has a bipartisan mission with hundreds of members and growing.
Many of you may remember Kim and all she was able to accomplish for MISA and our professions in Annapolis. Kim has always been a strong business advocate and I’m sure she will continue that pursuit in this new venture. Congratulations Madame President!

The next MISA meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the FEDERAL HOUSE restaurant located at 22 Market Space, Annapolis, MD 21401
( 410-268-2576 ). We will have our annual elections and also have an excellent guest speaker.
MENU
APPETIZERS: choice of SOUP or SALAD
ENTREES : choice of 1.) CHAMPAGNE CHICKEN

All entrees will be served with rice. coffee, tea or soda.

GUEST SPEAKER
Our guest speaker is PHILIP BECNEL, the managing partner of DINOLT, BECNEL & WELLS INVESTIGATIVE GROUP (a Virginia based Private Detective Agency). He is also the author of PRIVATE DETECTIVE ENTRY LEVEL ( 02E ) which is the only accepted textbook for the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA’s mandatory entry-level course required for all private Investigators in Virginia. Mr. Becnel has been a Private Investigator since 1999 and has conducted thousands of interviews in both criminal and civil investigations and will be speaking about interviewing techniques.
Our guest speaker has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University; is a Certified Fraud Examiner, and is Certified in the Reid Technique of Interviewing & Interrogation.
PHILIP BECNEL is licensed in Virginia, DC and Maryland
WE EXPECT THIS TO BE VERY INFORMATIVE MEETING and, as mentioned earlier, we will be holding our elections for the MISA 2011 Board at this meeting.

November MISA Meeting

The next MISA meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Far East Restaurant located at 5055 Nicholson Lane, Rockville, MD 20852. Our VP of Investigations selected this establishment and has informed the Board that the food is excellent.
This is a Chinese Restaurant and the menu is as follows:
Appetizers: Vegetable Spring Roll
Shrimp Toast
Steak on a Stick

Entrees: Far East Shrimp
Beef w/Asparagus & Snow Peas
Sesame Chicken
Stringbeans Szchuan Style
Vegetables Sauteed Chinese Style

There will also be a cash bar. The cost per person is $30.00.

We expect to have a guest speaker TBA. We will be raffling off THREE RAVENS-STEELERS FOOTBALL GAME TICKETS for the December 5, 2010 game in Baltimore. Raffle Tickets are still available (1 Raffle ticket for $10.00 OR 3 Raffle tickets for $20.00.)
