Due to circumstances beyond our control the MISA meeting for tomorrow April 17, 2012 has been cancelled.
The next MISA membership Meeting will be on May 8th 2012

Our guest Speaker will be Sgt John Conroy, Montgomery County Police Department Computer Forensic Examiners Sgt. John Conroy is one of Montgomery County Police Department’s computer forensic examiners. He has almost ten years of experience and tons of training in computer forensics and he also has his own company doing civil case work for attorneys and investigators, Potomac Digital. Sgt Conroy also offers education and instruction to Attorneys and PIs in electronic evidence. This is a growing sector in the Investigative field and weather you plan to seek business in this area of expertise or not, you should have a fundamental understanding of the process should clients ask you about it. In addition to our already slated agenda, M.I.S.A. is happy to welcome as our guest speakers, Norma Llanos, owner of Phoenix Investigations, LLC. as well as Jennifer Dayton and Sherryl Statland, Assistant Public Defender’s with the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office. These ladies have all worked together on many very high profile criminal cases. They will be sharing stories of some of the more well known cases and discussing possible opportunities for M.I.S.A. members.

MISA Annual Meeting – December 13, 2011

The MISA Annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the HUNAN MANOR CHINESE RESTAURANT.

We will be holding the elections for the 2012 Board. You will soon be receiving an Election Ballot. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting.

Our last meeting was excellent and we’re on a roll. Some of you may remember Kim Burns as a former lobbyist for MISA. She is currently President of Maryland Business for Responsive Government, a statewide, nonpartisan, political research and education organization that works to improve Maryland’s business climate. Bring a notepad as Kim always has something valuable to share.

The speaker will be Sgt. Jeff Pettitt the current supervisor of the Security Guard Agency and Private Detective Agency Unit of the Maryland State Police Licensing Division. Lt. Jerry Beason, the new Commander of the Licensing Division will also be speaking. Capt. Tom Williams (ret), Director, Planning and Research for the Department of the State Police is expected to attend.

P. I. David Mink of Rhode Island Needs Your Help

Last week longtime private investigator and industry leader David Mink was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident. He has suffered severe spinal injuries and remains hospitalized. Soon he will be transferred to a rehabilitation center in Boston, over an hour from his home, for an undetermined length of time. We have also learned that David’s daughter, Ali, has been battling brain cancer and underwent another brain surgery the day after David’s accident.

David’s impact on the professional investigator community has been profound. He has held many leadership positions and has impacted many of our lives over the years. We are very concerned for David and his family.

David owns a successful firm in Rhode Island. Efforts are underway to coordinate a local and national cadre of licensed investigators to step in and work pro bono until David recovers. We ask that you consider a financial donation of one hour of your billable time to this fine and gracious man.
