			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week longtime private investigator and industry leader David Mink was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident.  He has suffered severe spinal injuries and remains hospitalized.  Soon he will be transferred to a rehabilitation center in Boston, over an hour from his home, for an undetermined length of time. <span id="more-523"></span> We have also learned that David&#8217;s daughter, Ali, has been battling brain cancer and underwent another brain surgery the day after David&#8217;s accident.</p>
<p>David&#8217;s impact on the professional investigator community has been profound. He has held many leadership positions and has impacted many of our lives over the years.  We are very concerned for David and his family.</p>
<p>David owns a successful firm in Rhode Island.  Efforts are underway to coordinate a local and national cadre of licensed investigators to step in and work pro bono until David recovers. <p>The Job Applicant Fairness Act did pass so those of you engaged in pre-employment background checks may want to read the actual law that takes effect on October 1, 2011.</p>
<p>SB 139/HB 402 – Family Law – Grounds for Absolute Divorce changed the time for separation before an Absolute decree may be issued. It eliminated the two year time period and changed it to 12 months. Read the actual bills for more details. This will take effect on October 1, 2011.</p>
<p>A number of other bills passed that you may want to be aware of concerning handguns, domestic violence, sexual offenses, taxes, and more. Please review the link above. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.</p>

It is important to note, as always, that ours is a profession that comes with risk&#8230;.we&#8217;re in the business of discovering activities that people don&#8217;t want known or don&#8217;t want to be resolved. <strong>Arthur G. Brown, 50</strong><br />
Arthur Gregory Brown, 50, of Harrisonburg, died Thursday, March 3, 2011. Greg was born on Sept. 10, 1960, in Michigan. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Brown Sr., and sister, Julia Ann Pelligrini.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Debbie Day Brown and his children, Jared G. Brown and William A. Zampini IV, Angela Lauterback, Billie Jean Zampini and Christine K. Zampini; and his mother, Patricia H. Brown. Additional family include a precious grandson, Jamen Jose Mendez; one brother, Robert H. Brown Jr.; a sister, Leslie Lynn Brown; a nephew, North Brown and nieces, Tina Good and Kristy Judson</p>
<p>Greg attended Destiny Christian Center in Harrisonburg and worked in store management for many years and in 2008 started his own private investigation business. He was an active member of the Republican Party. He enjoyed so much playing basketball at the Recreation Center with all the guys. Also, his interest in cars of all kinds served as one of his true passions throughout the years. He was known by all who knew him as a faithful husband, devoted father and grandfather and friend.</p>
<p>Greg loved and cherished his family with an unbridled passion. He approached every aspect of his life with enthusiasm; every situation was an opportunity to achieve a higher level of accomplishment. He challenged himself and others to reach beyond their limits. He never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to another person&#8217;s day. Greg was an amazing man who enriched every single life he touched.</p>
<p>A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg with Pastor John Senters officiating. A reception will be held following the service.</p>
<p><strong>Memorial contributions may be made to the Greg Brown Memorial Fund, in care of Mosaic Credit Union at 31 South Carlton St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.</strong></p>
