MARYLAND GENERAL ASSEMBLY NEWS
HB 344 Consumer Protection – Sale or Distribution of Personal Information – Limitations and HB 1120 Social Security Numbers – Prohibited Uses were two bills that would have changed the Commercial Law Article. These bills if passed would have inadvertently prevented lawful use of the social security number by licensed private detectives. MISA provided amendments and worked with the sponsors and the House Economic Matters Committee. Both bills received an Unfavorable Report n the 2009 Session.
The crossover date for bills passed in either the House or Senate is March 30th. That means the next few weeks will move at an extremely fast rate. Stay tuned for more information.
