MISA December Annual Meeting

The next MISA meeting will be held December 8th, 2009  from 6:00PM- 9:00PM at the HUNAN MANOR CHINESE RESTAURANT in Columbia, MD  21045.                                                                                                                                                   Our featured guest speakers for the the evening will include:                          

Sgt. James (Jimmy) Russell of the Maryland State Police- Licensing Division- Confirmed

 Additional Invited guests include:

Capt. Herman (LD Commander)

Sgt. Barbara Barnes (SG section),

Sgt. Griffies (HG permit section)  

This should prove to be a very important and productive meeting.   Please plan to attend or send a representative from your organization.

ANNUAL ELECTIONS FOR OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS WILL BE HELD AT THIS MEETING.

Nominations need to be submitted by November 27th.  Click on the Members page, then click on “this form” just above the Member list, fill out the form, and follow the directions.

It is not too late to submit your name as a nominee !!!!!

CJIS Fingerprinting Scheduled Change January, 2010

Upcoming MISA Meetings – November Speaker from Licensing Division

The next two MISA General Meetings will he held at the HUNAN MANOR CHINESE RESTAURANT in Columbia, MD

 The November Meeting will be on Tuesday November 10, 2009 (6:00 to 9:30 PM). We will have our usual appetizers,  five entrees and dessert. Cash Bar is available. The cost per person is $30.00. Please make your reservation via email or call Bob Hoffman at 410-977-6613 or call the MISA line at 877-884-5448.
The speaker for the November meeting will be Sgt. James Russell of the Licensing Division of the Maryland State Police. He will be discussing a number of important issues and announcing a change in the CJIS process for fingerprinting. This is an important meeting to attend.

The December  meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 (6:00 to 9:30 PM).The menu will be similar to the November menu but with different entrees and appetizers.  The exact menu will be posted at a later date. The cost will alo be $30.00/person.
The election for Officers and Directors will be held at the December meeting

A Political Action Committee Created For P.I.’s and Security

Today the Senate returned from its spring break recess and tomorrow the House returns.  Still, there is good news on the federal lobbying front that I’m pleased to share with you. 

I have been retained as director of government affairs for a new national professional association which will be providing legislative and regulatory assistance at the federal level to both state and national professional associations.  Many of you in the past you have assisted me, in one capacity or another, in protecting the interests of this profession in Washington.  I hope to continue to work with and for you in a similar capacity.

This newly formed organization is Investigative and Security Professionals for Legislative Action (ISPLA).  I will be working with a number of well-known professional association leaders in the investigative and security fields, each of whom are committed to ensuring that our profession’s interests are protected from ill-conceived legislation and burdensome regulations.
